Obituary for Elaine Verna Baumgartner

Elaine Verna Baumgartner
Elaine Verna Baumgartner
November 13, 1948 – November 24, 2017
Elaine was born on November 13, 1948 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, the eldest child of Raymond and Ruth "nee Thompson" Baumgartner. From grade one to grade five, Elaine attended Riverstone School. When this one-room country school closed in 1959, she then attended Ridgedale School, where she made lifelong friends. After graduating high school, Elaine attended The Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Science, graduating as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1968. From 1969 to 1971, she was employed at the Nipawin Union Hospital. On July 24, 1971 Elaine married Bob Jackson of Melfort and they moved to Thompson, Manitoba. In June 1973 they moved to Melfort. From 1975 to 1981, Elaine worked at Melfort’s Parkland Regional Care Centre. On June 24, 1982, their son Kim Robert Henry was born. From 1984 to 1989 Elaine ran a private care home, caring for the elderly in her own home. In the fall of 1989, she took the C.N.A. refresher course and in 1990 was employed at the Hanna Health Care Complex in Hanna, Alberta. At the end of 1990 she returned to their acreage north of Melfort, and later moved into Melfort. With failing health, she had to move to a nursing home. She resided at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert for the past five years until her passing. Throughout her life, Elaine was a great lover of animals. Growing up on the farm, she spent many hours in the barn with her Dad helping to do chores and being with the animals. Her favourite animals were the horses King and Flicka, and Spike the dog. An important part of her life was her Grandad and Grandma Thompson, as well as her Uncle Alex and Aunt Annie Baumgartner, and nieces and nephew Lesley Aimoe, Le-Anne Toutant and Grant Jackson. Many lovely needlecraft projects were completed by Elaine. Friends and family received beautiful cross-stitch pictures, aprons, ornaments, teddy bears, etc. Left to cherish her memory is her mother: Ruth Baumgartner; her son: Kim Jackson; her brother: Bob (Helen) Baumgartner; her niece: Erin (Eduardo) Dozal; her great-nieces: Eva Dozal and Elise Dozal; her nephew: Scott Baumgartner; her niece: Amy (Ryan) Leguerrier; her brother: Dale (Shirley) Baumgartner; her niece: Meghan (Mike) Loney; her great-nephew: Emmett Loney; her great-niece: Alida Loney; her nephew: Barrett (Leanne) Baumgartner; her great-niece: Camilla Baumgartner; her nephew: Aaron Baumgartner; her Uncle: Eddie Baumgartner; her Aunt June Baumgartner, and numerous cousins. Elaine was predeceased by her father: Raymond Baumgartner in 2010; her grandparents: Henry and Florence Thompson, and Alex and Charlotte Baumgartner; as well as several Aunts and Uncles. The family would like to thank Cathy and Becky, and all the staff at the Herb Bassett Home. A private family service will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial contributions may be directed to the Prince Albert SPCA, 1125 N Industrial Dr, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T1.
