Obituary for Alice Victoria Hulowski

Alice Victoria Hulowski
Alice Victoria Hulowski
January 22, 1931 - August 3, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a caring loving soul, Alice Victoria Hulowski, on August 3, 2017 at her loving home, Kinistino Jubilee Lodge, with her family by her side. Alice was born in Samburg, SK on January 22, 1931 to Annie (nee Franchuk) and William Lubyk. Alice was the eldest daughter of 9 children and life was difficult as her father was killed in a farm accident when Alice was 11, she then helped to raise all of her siblings. When Alice was 15, her mother encouraged her to take a secretarial course in order to have a better life, and that she did. Jobs were scarce, so she worked at the Weirdale store for 3 years. In 1950, she married her love, Sanco Hulowski and together they had 4 children: Rori, Perry, Connie, and a daughter that passed away in infancy. Together, they made their life on Sanco’s parents farm in Weirdale, SK. In 1968, they moved to Prince Albert where mom worked various jobs at Hannigans, Car Hop A&W and Husky House, finishing her career by working 15 years in Dietary at Holy Family Hospital. Upon her retirement, she moved to Sherman Towers where her mother Annie lived to help take care of her. Mom met Manji and Joshna Jethwa, who owned a convenience store across from her apartment. She wanted to keep busy and worked there for eight years, they were just like family to her. Mom’s hobbies included cooking many perogies for her friends and family, planting flowers, visiting, laughing, joking, playing bingo, reading, watching T.V., and most of all going to the Casino. In her younger days, she enjoyed bus trips to Reno and Vegas with her younger sister Clem. She spent her last 4 years at Kinistino Jubilee Lodge where she was so loved. Alice is survived by: her children: Ron Hulowski of Prince Albert, SK, Perry (Kim) Hulowski of Prince Albert, SK, and Connie (Kevin) Ulvild of Hagen, SK; her grandchildren: Eric (Keeley) Hulowski, Rhona (Ryle Shore) Hulowski, Shelby (John) Robinson, Chelsey Hulowski, Adam Hulowski, and Carson Hulowski; her great-grandchildren: Emily Hulowski, Sophie and Cole Shore, and Liam Robinson; her siblings: Paul Lubyk of Windsor, ON, Harry Lubyk of Coquitlam, BC, Mary Roach of Edmonton, AB, and Eve (Doug) MacKenzie of Calgary; her close friends: Claude and Mona Rivet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her father: William Lubyk; her mother: Annie Lubyk (nee Franchuk); her baby daughter; her brothers: Peter, Roman, and Anthony Lubyk; her sister: Clementine Zaleschuk; and daughter in-law: Bayna Hulowski. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Kinistino Jubilee Lodge, 401 Meyers Ave, Kinistino, SK, S0J 1H0. A Service of Remembrance will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 – 2:00 pm at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St E, Prince Albert, SK, with Deacon Eldon Danielson as Celebrant. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Tracy-Lynn Switzer, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
